1. Who We Are

CLATutor is a coaching institute in Bengaluru, India, offering CLAT, IPMAT, and related entrance-exam preparation. We operate:

• Website: www.clatutor.com
• Student, parent, and staff portals on that website
• The Clatutor mobile app (package name com.clatutor.mobile)

Branches include Malleshwaram and Yelahanka, Bengaluru. Contact details are at the end of this page.

2. What This Policy Covers

This policy applies to:

• Visitors to our public website
• Enrolled students using the student portal or Clatutor app
• Parents or guardians using the parent portal or Clatutor app
• Staff and counsellors using CRM / admin tools in the website or app

By using these services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the services and contact us.

3. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you use CLATutor.

A. Account and identity

• Name, login ID, student ID, parent ID, or staff user ID
• Email address and phone number
• Password (stored in a protected form on our systems; we do not show full passwords in the app)
• Branch, batch, target year, and similar enrolment details
• Profile photograph, if uploaded

B. Student academic records

• Online test attempts, answers, scores, and analysis
• OMR / offline test records where staff upload them
• Attendance
• Notes, current affairs, course videos, and related study materials you access
• Notifications sent through our systems

C. Fees and enrolment

• Fee status, instalments, due dates, and related billing records
• Address and date of birth where collected for student records
• Payment confirmations processed through approved payment channels

We do not store full debit or credit card numbers on our servers. Card payments, if used, are handled by third-party payment providers.

D. Parent information

• Parent or guardian name, login, and contact details
• Linked student records (attendance, tests, and fees the parent is allowed to view)

E. Staff / CRM information

Authorised staff may create or manage student records, tests, attendance, fees, parent logins, enrolment, counsellor accounts, and email inbox messages. Uploaded files can include photographs, PDFs, spreadsheets, and email files needed for institute operations.

F. Photos, files, and device data (Clatutor app)

• Photos: if you or staff choose a photo from the device library (for example a student profile photo), that image is sent to our servers.
• Documents: if you pick a file (PDF, image, or similar) for upload, that file is sent to our servers.
• On-device session: the app stores a login session on the device (name, role, and a session token) so you stay signed in. This is cleared when you log out.
• Technical data: device type, app version, and basic diagnostics needed to keep the app working. We do not sell this data.

G. Website technical data

When you visit the website we may collect IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, cookies, and similar usage data.

4. Clatutor App Permissions

The Clatutor Android app may ask for:

• Photos / media library — only to let you choose an image to upload. We do not access your full gallery in the background.
• Files / documents — only when you pick a file to upload.
• Internet — to sign you in and load your courses, tests, fees, attendance, and messages from our servers.

You can refuse a permission. Features that need that permission will not work until you allow it. You can revoke permissions later in Android Settings.

The app is not an advertising product. We do not use your data to show third-party ads in the Clatutor app.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use information to:

• Create and manage student, parent, and staff accounts
• Deliver coaching, notes, videos, tests, and results
• Record attendance and fees
• Let parents view permitted student information
• Let staff run institute operations (enrolment, tests, communications)
• Send service messages (schedules, results, fee reminders, support)
• Improve the website and app, fix errors, and keep systems secure
• Comply with Indian law and respond to lawful requests

We do not sell or rent personal information.

6. Legal Basis (India)

We process personal data to provide the educational services you (or a parent/guardian) requested, to run our institute, and where required by law. For students under 18, a parent or guardian should supervise use of the app and portal and consent to enrolment and related data processing.

7. Sharing of Information

We share information only when needed:

• With authorised CLATutor staff and counsellors for teaching and administration
• With the linked parent or guardian, for information the parent portal or app is designed to show
• With trusted processors who host our servers, send email, or process payments (they may access data only to provide that service)
• With Google, if you download Clatutor from Google Play, as needed for app distribution and Play policies
• When required by law, court order, or to protect students, staff, or our legal rights
• In a merger, acquisition, or similar institute restructuring, with appropriate safeguards

8. How Long We Keep Data

We keep student, parent, fee, attendance, and test records for as long as needed to provide coaching, maintain institute records, and meet legal or accounting requirements. Session data on a phone is removed when you log out or uninstall the app. Server records are not deleted only because the app is uninstalled; email us if you want a deletion request.

9. Data Security

We use HTTPS and access controls so that student, parent, and staff data is available only to authorised users. Servers used by the app and portals are hosted in India (AWS Mumbai region). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please keep your login private and log out on shared devices.

10. Students Under 18

Many Clatutor users are school or college students, including minors. The app is for enrolled students, their parents/guardians, and staff — not for children under 13 as a public social product. Parents and guardians should supervise a minor’s use of the app. We do not knowingly collect data from children for advertising.

11. Your Rights

Subject to Indian law and institute record-keeping needs, you may:

• Ask what personal data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct inaccurate information
• Ask us to delete data we no longer need to keep
• Ask us to restrict or explain how we use your data
• Opt out of promotional messages (service messages about classes, fees, or tests may still be sent)

Send requests to hello@clatutor.com with the subject line “Privacy request”. We may need to verify your identity (and, for a student account, parent/guardian authority) before we act.

12. Cookies (Website Only)

The website may use cookies to remember preferences, keep you logged in, and understand traffic. You can disable cookies in your browser; some site features may then not work. The Clatutor mobile app does not rely on website cookies for login; it stores a local session on the device.

13. Third-Party Links and Stores

Our website or app may open payment pages, Google Play, YouTube, Instagram, maps, or other third-party services. Their privacy practices are their own. Google Play’s handling of your Google account is governed by Google’s policies.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. The new version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of the website, portals, or Clatutor app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
